have you ever wanted your own perfume, have a smell that reminds you of a memory, want to create a special gift for someone or want to capture the memory of this beautiful island, we can teach you the skills to create perfume and you can leave with your very own custom bottle.
ink making
make botanical ink
on this course you can learn how to make your own ink using botanicals found in our garden, we will also teach you how to make charcoal! you will leave with a  pot of your homemade ink swell as handmade charcoal and the skills to create your own
natural paint making
learn how to make your own pigments from earth
on this experience day we get dirty with the earth and botanicals around us, we learn how to make pigments and paints from nature. walk away with your very own natural pigments.
paper making
learn how to make paper
using recycled materials found around the island we teach you how to take this waste material and create some beautiful paper that you can use for art, craft, cards or anything else you can imagine.
Pottery making
make something from clay
here at Madeira Makers we have our own kiln, why not spend the day with us and make something out of clay, using pinch, coil and slab techniques we can go through the stages of clay to ceramic.
Soap Making
Make It make your own natural soap
come learn how to make a simple soap, one you can add your won ingredients to, such as essential oils to scent or dried flora to decorate, you will leave with the knowledge of soap making and a beautiful bar of handmade soap
local cuisine cooking
learn to cook like an islander
this experience day you will learn to cook four traditional dishes, espada banana, picador chicken, polo vinaigrette and bolo de caco (traditional flat brad)
Botanical Dyes
learn how to dye with nature
on this experience day we go through our garden and choose flora that can be used as natural dyes, we then proceed to experiment with techniques and you can go home with a handmade scarf or tote bag.
Ginja making (cherry liquor)
learn how to make traditional madeiran liquor
in this experience you will learn how we make the traditional cherry liquor famous around the island of madeira, you will leave with the knowledge of our old traditional techniques and a  bottle of ginja!
Poncha making
spend the afternoon with us making poncha!
you must of come across our famous drink on the island, now you can learn how to make it. its a simple recipe whihc leaes us plenty of time to taste our wares.
